IAPA membership

How to join

Join Our Global Community

IAPA membership is open to agencies, associations, and authorities actively engaged in the au pair and cultural exchange industry.

How to Apply

  1. Fill in the 'Become a Member' form.
  2. Provide the following documents, either by uploading them in the application form or by emailing them to the Managing Director:
    • A copy of your organisation's registration (for National Associations: statutes, constitution, by-laws, or articles of association).
    • A copy of your organisation's most recent audited annual accounts, including balance sheet, profit & loss statement, and all supporting appendices.
  3. You must be recommended by two references, at least one of which is an IAPA member. Ideally, references are business partners who have worked with your organisation directly; however, anyone with credible, direct knowledge of your work may also qualify. Contact us if you're unsure whether your references qualify.
  4. We'll set up a personal call with you to learn more about your organisation, discuss which membership category may suit you best, confirm eligibility, and answer any questions you have.
  5. Following screening, the IAPA Board will decide on the acceptance of your organisation as a member.
  6. A non-refundable processing fee of €100 applies, charged together with your membership fee once your organisation has been accepted as a member.

Membership Categories

There are five membership categories:

Full Membership (Voting)
Open to profit and non-profit organisations engaged in sending or receiving au pairs, in existence as a legal entity for at least two years. Each Full Voting Member has one vote.

Full Membership (Non-Voting)
Open to profit and non-profit organisations engaged in sending or receiving au pairs that are more than 50% owned by a Full Member, in existence as a legal entity for at least two years.

Associate Membership
Open to organisations offering services to au pair organisations or au pairs themselves — such as language schools, hotels, transport companies, national youth organisations, and insurance companies. Associate Members cannot vote but can be elected to the IAPA Board

Affiliate Membership (Trial Membership)
Open, at the discretion of the Board, in existence as a legal entity for at least one year. Affiliate Membership is limited to two years, after which an upgrade to Full status is required. Affiliate Members cannot vote or serve on the Board.

National Association Membership
Open to non-governmental trade associations in the au pair or cultural exchange sector. National Associations cannot vote but may speak at meetings. Individual members of a National Association are not automatically IAPA members through their association's membership, and cannot personally serve on the Board.

A Few Things to Remember

Renewal
The membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Membership is continuous and renews automatically unless you resign.

Resignation
To resign, notify us in writing at least three months before the end of the membership year. Resignation takes effect from the start of the next calendar year.

Disaffiliation
The IAPA Board may suspend or terminate a membership if fees remain unpaid by the due date, or in cases of unethical behaviour. Suspension or termination for unethical behaviour takes immediate effect and is subject to review and ratification at the AGM. IAPA reserves the right to inform other members of a suspension or termination.
