Who can become a member?

IAPA has around 140 members in 45 countries worldwide.

All our members are qualified organisations and agencies actively engaged in au pair and cultural exchange services.
To join IAPA, organisations must have been active for at least one year (Affiliate Members) or two years (Full Voting Members) before applying. (Learn more about the different membership categories below.)

What unites IAPA members?

IAPA members share a common goal: to collaborate ethically and professionally for the ongoing support, care, and development of the au pair industry on an international level. Despite operating in different countries and cultures, all members are united by the same education to high standards, safety, care, and professionalism in au pair placements.

All members commit to IAPA's Constitution and Code of Conduct, and to providing quality au pair placements and services. This shared framework ensures that families and au pairs as well as other agencies working with any IAPA member agency can expect high standards, safety, care, and professionalism.

Does your organisation share these values?

Application requirements

All applicants undergo a thorough screening process and are expected to follow IAPA's Code of Conduct and quality guidelines throughout their membership.

To apply for IAPA membership, you'll need to meet the following:

1. References: You must be recommended by two references, at least one of which is an IAPA member. Ideally, references are business partners who have worked with your organisation directly; however, anyone with credible, direct knowledge of your work may also qualify. Contact us if you're unsure whether your references qualify.

2. Time in business: Your organisation must have been active for a minimum period before applying, depending on the membership category — see the chart above for details.

3. Documentation: Copies of your organisation's company registration (for National Associations: constitution, by-laws, or articles of association) and your most recent audited annual accounts.

4. Personal call:  We'll set up a call to answer your questions, learn more about your organisation, confirm eligibility, and help you choose the membership category that suits you best.

5. Final decision: The IAPA Board makes the final decision on new member acceptance.
