CAPAA and IAPA in support of bringing your au pair on a family vacation
On Monday, 7 March an article was published in the New Zealand Herald on French au pair Manon Pache, who joined her Australian host family on a family vacation to New Zealand and was put in jail overnight and deported back to Australia by the immigration officials.
Nicole Kofkin, representing the Australian Au Pair Association (CAPAA), joined a radio session by Radio New Zealand yesterday, to discuss the Customs issues experienced at Queenstown Airport – Listen to the radio session >>
IAPA fully supports the idea of bringing an au pair on your family vacation, as this means a full immersion in the family life. Obviously the NZ minister discussing the case on the radio with Ms Kofkin was equally shocked by the treatment of young Manon, so that we would not expect this to happen again. At the same time, families and au pairs should always be aware of Visa rules and regulations of countries they reside or travel to in order to avoid problems with authorities.
One more good reason to have the support of a good au pair agency.
