Denmark: Increased Au Pair Allowance and Language Class Contribution Now in Effect

The Danish government has announced updated financial rates for the au pair program, effective 1 January 2026.

Both the monthly allowance paid to au pairs and the contribution towards Danish language classes will increase.

he monthly au pair allowance has increased from DKK 5,000 to DKK 5,250, which is approximately EUR 700. At the same time, the required contribution towards Danish language classes has risen from DKK 20,000 to DKK 20,900, equivalent to approximately EUR 2,800.

The new rates apply to au pair applications submitted from 1 January 2026 onwards and are reflected on the official Danish application page as of that date.

These adjustments are intended to reflect cost developments and to continue supporting au pairs during their stay in Denmark, particularly with regard to language learning and cultural exchange.
