U.S. Consulates Resume Scheduling F&J Visa Appointments

As of June 18, 2025, the U.S. Department of State has resumed scheduling visa appointments for students and exchange visitors, including J-1 visas for au pairs. This follows a temporary pause to implement new social media screening procedures.
Applicants should be aware that:
- Interview availability may still be limited in some countries.
- All social media accounts must be set to public for review by consular officers.
- Longer processing times are likely due to the enhanced vetting.
Au pairs should turn to their sending agencies for guidance and help with preparing documents and interviews.
We encourage IAPA member agencies to stay in close contact with their U.S. sponsor partners to monitor appointment availability, understand local embassy procedures, and support au pair candidates through the updated process.
